Sick, crippled chickens; dead turkeys amongst the living; pigs left to decompose in a yard; and a filthy, ramshackle slaughter room … these were among the scenes Animal Aid filmed at an organic Soil Association-approved farm and abattoir.

Today we release our undercover investigation at a Soil Association-approved slaughterhouse. It resulted in 3 workers being suspended, the abattoir losing its approval status and CCTV being installed. There is no humane slaughter - go vegan!

Three slaughtermen have been suspended from a Soil Association-approved abattoir following an undercover investigation by Animal Aid that reveals what the government regulatory body, the Meat Hygiene Service (MHS), describes as ‘clear evidence of breaches of animal welfare legislation’.

A 16 October 2009 report in the Bridgenorth Journal described how a much-loved family dog was shot by a gamekeeper when he was alleged to be worrying game birds. According to the owner, the West Mercia police took no action and justified the shooting as the protection of ‘livestock’.
