Medicus "Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday, and a hope for tomorrow." - New York Tribune, 1916

Medicus Golf trivia: Why do many pros insist that their caddies carry the golf balls in their pockets?

Yep! This practice is called "warming the eggs." Many pros believe that warming the golf balls help them to fly further. While warming does enhance the elasticity of the ball, it would require illegal means to raise the temperature of the ball to get any significant benefits from it. :)

Medicus "I’ve never won down here, so now I have won on every continent, except for Antarctica. I haven’t played the Antarctica Four-Ball yet. But to have won on every playable continent, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. And now I’ve done that." – Tiger Woods, following his win at the JBWere Masters in Australia.

Medicus Golf trivia time: Why are flagsticks all the same height?

Wow, I liked all your answers much better. The USGA recommends that the flagstick be a minimum of seven feet high. Manufacturers usually adhere to this size because of perspective. If flagsticks varied in height from course to course it would be difficult to judge distance.
