...To love an Infantryman?
As her heart gazes in the window of his memory pane,
The reflection defining her love is soaked by tears of rain.
Paving the path to her own dreams means facing this fear,
Surrender control of the answers she's too afraid to hear.
Is it possible to ever truly hold a soldier's heart?
Will she unders ...tand that he can never give her every part?
Her heart is desperate to wait as long as she can...
But does she have what it takes to love an infantryman?
A dark storm of self-doubt builds with questions in her head,
Releasing truth in a down pour of what must be said.
Can she open her eyes and accept all they may see?
Behold the man now driven to be all he can be?
To have and to hold him is to embrace an army of one,
And know the cost of freedom means he will not duck & run.
His eyes forever watchful of the enemy at the gate.
He deserves a woman strong enough to nurture his hate,
Fully aware of the blood thirst he needs to survive,
And thankful of any trait that may keep him alive.
The lust to kill on command is a power few have known,
It bears a silent burden he must suffer alone.
Could she live up to her own duty each time he leaves?
To stand proudly beside him and the honor he believes?
Her heart is desperate to hold him as long as she can...
But does she have what it takes to love an infantryman?
