- Rockr and Tuff Gong have released a new bonus EP to follow up their critically-acclaimed “Roots, Rock, Remixed” compilation of 2007.
The 5-track EP covers a breadth of genres from Saturday-night house ( Sir T’s remix of “Kaya” ) to bass-heavy dub ( Fort Knox Five’s “Duppy Conqueror” ). On the midtempo tip, the Patchworks remix of “Corner Stone” is a subtly driving yet laidback soul number. The real gem on this release is Benjamin Devigne’s “Natural Mystic” treatment – with off-kilter beats, arpeggiated synths and jazzy keys reminiscent of Atjazz’s works.
