Astrokitty Comics & More QUICK REVIEW: Stumptown #1 is totally effing awesome and if you're a Rucka fan or just like crime comics, I highly recommend it! I can't wait to read more about Dex and her adventures. Good stuff. Also, further representation of Native Americans in comics. Plus, great art by M. Southworth. Buy it!

Astrokitty Comics & More QUICK REVIEW: Haunt #2 is okay. McFarlane's inks over Ottley's pencils is growing on me, I guess. The writing? Still very McFarlane as translated by Kirkman. Dumb mercenary types, lots of blood, but also some interesting support characters. I'm sticking with it. It's still early in the game.

Astrokitty Comics & More QUICK REVIEW: Necrosha X should have come out last week...but we got it late. Thanks Diamond. Anyway, it's the first chapter of a storyline that mimics DC's Blackest Night but, given that premise...it's not a hackneyed as I expected it to be. Not artist Clayton Crain's best work, but he does have an original style. The two back-up features are okay as well.

QUICK REVIEW: Astonishing X-Men #32 is the second issue of Ellis/Jiminez' new arc. As I said before, Jiminez' artwork is kind of coming into its own a bit, though he's still moving away from the Perez style. Anyway, Ellis (who I normally really dig) is kind of doing a Nextwave treatment of the X-Men here and it just do ...esn't work for me. If you like the Morrison New X-Men run, though, you'll likely dig it.Leer más

QUICK REVIEW: I read the reorder of Ultimate Avengers #2 this week and enjoyed it quite a bit. I need to read #3 (I think it's out now...) but so far this title is doing a good job of restoring this group to its former glory. Pacheco's pencils are strong, but Miki's inks aren't really up to par. Oh well. He's used to i ...nking Liefeld or something right? Anyway, it's a solid book, regardless.Leer más

Astrokitty Comics & More Holy WOW! Scott Ian of Anthrax is the writer on this week's new Lobo title featuring Sam Keith artwork! That's awesome! Historical, even! Lobo IS anti-social, for sure.

Astrokitty Comics & More QUICK REVIEW: I'm sad X-Men vs. Agents of Atlas is a two-issue mini-series (this being the 2nd and last issue) because I like how Parker writes both of these teams. Plus, the art for both stories (the main and "flashback") is nice. Samnee needs more work! Wait, you can see him on the Mighty by DC as well. Anyway, this was a side-story but a fun one.

Astrokitty Comics & More QUICK REVIEW: Christos Gage's Absolution is a nice book. I've recommended it before, but everything about this book really ups Avatar's game in terms of production and quality overall. Plus, it's a cool dark-fantasy-realization...or, as someone put it "Dexter with superpowers".

Astrokitty Comics & More QUICK REVIEW: Captain America Reborn #4 (of 5) has dodgy art in spots...but it gets the job done. I'm mainly comparing ULTIMATES Bryan Hitch art to this book's...and it pales in comparison in that regard. Still, it's an okay read. Lots of villains. Also...sort of a twist. Kinda.

Astrokitty Comics & More QUICK REVIEW: Doctor Voodoo #2 is a smidge confusing, but the art is nice...and the flashback art is cool as well. I hope this clears up soon...for i'm pulling for both the character and Remender (the writer). Let's give it another issue or so...
