Gesundheit! Institute and the School for Designing a Society invite you to participate in CLOWNING AND CARING, an educational clown tour in Ecuador. The tour will combine daily clowning with daily workshops in imagination and inquiry into the locale of our clowning.
Ecuador, on the equator in northwestern South America, ... is one of the seventeen megadiverse countries, hosting a great variety of endemic species of flora and fauna. Its 2009 constitution is the first in the world to ensure Rights of Nature (ecosystem rights). The capital city of Quito (where we'll be) has been named a World Heritage Site for having the best maintained and least changed historic city center in Latin America.
In addition to clowning and care in clinical settings, there will be daily practical workshops in clown technique, love strategy and reflection on where we are. Patch Adams will be leading this trip.
Cost: $1400 covers food, lodging, all educational and clowning events, and transportation within the country. This fee does not include your transporation to Ecuador.

November 26-29 workshop “DESIRE & DESIGN” with the instructors of the School for Designing a Society and Robert Naiman from Just Foreign Policy.
(Patch will not participate to this workshop).
The workshop Desire & Design invites participants to work on their desires and look for links between composition and social change, where composition is taken to mean broadly the putting together things that have never before been put together in such a way that together they do something they wouldn't do apart.
Language, desire and imagination are the tools that we use to shape our life and through which we can enact change.
During this workshop we will address language, how we speak and how language speaks us, we will try out new learning formats and put emphasis on performance understood as having an intent and choosing, from alternatives, a preferred way of presenting that intent. The School emphasizes performance not only in the sense of practicing music, movement, speech, the "Performing Arts", but also in the sense of daily performance, the performance of social roles, the performance of our identities. Through performances, presentations (of self), videos and moments of created eloquence we will address topics such as: (anti)communication, language, sustainable economy, permaculture, resistance and much more.

A few spaces are still available. Patch Adams MD and the School for Designing a Society invite you to an educational program exploring humanism in medicine. The four week course braids conceptual work and experiential learning. Presenters include Patch Adams, Cari Brackett Pharm.D, Chrissy Nelson RN, John Glick MD ..., Kate Herron Slaymaker, Assi Cicurel MD, Mark Enslin ... amid woods, waterfalls, wacky architecture, and a warm & welcoming environment for learning.
All stake-holders in health care are invited: pre-med students, medical students, nursing students, activists, scholars, dreamers. We are especially looking for people who participate in health care in unusual ways. School credit can be arranged.

Gesundheit! Institute and the School for Designing a Society invite you to participate in CLOWNING AND CARING, an educational clown tour in Costa Rica. The tour will combi ...ne daily clowning at a children's hospital and two clinics, with daily workshops in imagination and inquiry into the locale of our clowning.
Costa Rica's history has an unusual twist for a country in Central America—or anywhere—in the 20th century. Upon taking power after an uprising & civil war against an annulled election, the victorious rebels proceeded to abolish the army and remove themselves from power. Costa Rica now hosts many projects of peace, justice and ecological restoration.
In addition to clowning and care in clinical settings, there will be daily practical workshops in clown technique, love strategy and reflection on where we are. Patch Adams will be leading this trip.
