Women Against Violence Against Women-WAVAW WAVAW along with Aboriginal Womens Working Group, organized a youth walk to fight the Canadian Governments VETO to the UN's Declaration of Indigenous Rights. On Sept 13 2007 the Canadian Government and The United States as well as Russia said NO to giving Aboriginal Human Rights to the Indigenous peoples of their count ...ries. These were the only countries in the world to say no and put forward a VETO. This of course is because all three of these countries are holding the land hostage from the indian peoples. As part of the Declaration it says that all land should be restored stewardship to the rightful owners. So we took a group of youth on a 400 kilo walk to let the country know that our youth are not assimilated and that we will educate them as to what is going on and they will fight for what is theirs! We then took them to Sundance and we all danced.
