Every two years choirs from all parts of the world come together to celebrate the World Choir Games and from July 15th – 26th 2010 Shaoxing will be the next host.

Ο Elijah Themba Madlopha I am Themba Madlopha, Music Director of the Cenestra Male Choir from Ekurhuleni Metro in the Gauteng Province, South Africa. Cenestra is an enthusiast of many Interkultuur events, and is currently ranked 19th in the Musica Mundi Top 50 Male Choir World Ranking List(was 14th in 2006). Our only setback at international p...articipation has always been a lack of funding, but are positive we'll make it to WCG 2010! We sadly missed Bremen 2004 and Xiamen 2006 last minute, after huge preparations, musically and administratively. But we managed to go to the 10th Budapest Competition in Hungary in 2005 where we won Gold. Hope to c u in Shaoxing! When is WCG headed for South Africa? The city of Durban will be quite ideal for this great event-quite warm weather here in July.

An orchid of fabric is the mascot for the next WCG in Shaoxing. The flower, a symbol of the City of Shaoxing, was presented by INTERKULTUR and the official side of the City of Shaoxing to the representatives of the press and the public at December 09 at a press conference.

The idea of the World Choir Games originates from the effort to bring together people and peoples, who are united through singing, in peaceful competition. This way the coming together of nations, also in arts, can be effectively and illustratively demonstrated and continuously challenged.
