A global day of action on Sudan will take place on January 9, 2010, marking the fifth anniversary of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement between North and South Sudan and one year out from the referendum that will determine whether the Southern region of Sudan will separate from the North.

Save Darfur Coalition On January 9th the world will join together in a drumbeat for peace in Sudan.

This day will serve as a launching point for a yearlong effort to raise awareness about preventing the catastrophe of a return to widespread violence in Sudan.

Washington, DC will join these global events through a short program at New York Ave ...nue Presbyterian Church on January 9 at 11 am. This event will feature powerful drumming, footage of celebrity drummers from 5 continents joining the beat, and words from Sudanese survivors and leaders in the movement for peace in Sudan.

After the short program we will march to Lafayette Park.

Please bring a drum or other percussion instrument if you would like to join in the drumming, and a sign if you would like to join the march. Light refreshments will be served.
